I have received the following message from NUFC. Along with the Premier League they are setting up a virtual fans wall for Sunday's game. Please read the message I received (posted below) and if you are interested, send your name, telephone number and email address to us by 3:30pm today so we can send them for you.

I am sorry for the short notice but I have only just received the information myself. You could potentially become famous world-wide!

    Hello

    I hope that you’re well.

I wondered if you might like to be nominated for consideration to the Premier League for their virtual fan wall for Sunday’s game?

The Premier League are looking for passionate Newcastle United fans to feature in a virtual Fan Wall to be displayed during upcoming home and away fixtures.  Chosen fans will have the chance to watch the match on Sunday via a live feed and be part of a virtual Fan Wall, which could be shown on the live broadcast around the world.

If you’re happy to be considered would you be happy for me to send your contact details to Premier League Productions? They will select fans so at this stage your details are being sent for consideration.

What would you need to do?
    • Fans will need an internet connection with a device that supports Google Chrome
    • The device needs a working camera and headphones linked to the device

What will happen if you are chosen?
    • Your data, submitted below, will be shared with the Premier League for the sole use of being featured on the Premier League virtual fan wall
    • Only fans that are selected to be part of the Premier League virtual fan wall will be contacted directly by the Premier League
    • All fans will be asked to sign a consent form and code of conduct before joining the stream
    • Fans will be required to access the stream 60 minutes prior to kick-off and stay for the duration of the game

  • Reminder about key (critical) workers

Tue 16 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton

Please read the following reminder of information from the DfE about the children of critical workers:

    Critical workers

Parents whose work is critical to the coronavirus (COVID-19) response include those who work in health and social care and in other key sectors outlined below. Many parents working in these sectors may be able to look after their child at home, but attendance is strongly encouraged.

Please, therefore, also follow these key principles:

    1.       If a child needs specialist support, is vulnerable or has a parent who is a critical worker, then educational provision will be available for them.

    2.       Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.

    3.       Parents must do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially outside of school. They must observe the same social distancing principles as adults, as far as possible.

    4.       Residential special schools, boarding schools and special settings continue to care for children wherever possible.

Note If your work is critical to the coronavirus (COVID-19) response, or you work in one of the critical sectors listed below, then your children will be prioritised for education provision and are strongly encouraged to attend.

The critical workers guidance is at  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

  • Thank you parents and carers

Tue 16 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton

I just wanted to say a huge "thank you" to the parents and carers who have helped their children to settle into a new school routine so quickly. All children who have returned have been dropped off and collected at the correct times and this has helped to stagger the number of adults and children on the yard at any one time. You have all followed our advice about water bottles etc and we are very grateful for working with us. Thank you also to those parents and carers working with their children at home. We appreciate that this is hard and are grateful for everything that you are doing.

Thank you very much for everyone's patience, understanding and cooperation during these unprecedented times. As a school, we have been informed of Government directives at the same time as you have, which has then often left a very short time to plan and get all safety measures in place. The staff have been amazing and have worked very hard to ensure that everything was set up and safe before any children returned to school. They are still putting work online for home learning while also teaching a bubble of children in school all day, often with children they have never taught.

Teamwork at Wallsend St Peter's has been tremendous during these past few months and we are looking forward to continuing to work closely with all you all as we wait to discover the Government's plans for September.

  • Information from Emblematic about school uniform orders

Tue 16 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton

    EMBLEMATIC – UNIFORM ORDERS – 2020/21

Our embroidery facility is currently open, with a reduced staff following all Government Guidance. We are currently also taking school orders via email as normal. The email address is orders@emblematic.co.uk

Following the recent Government update I am pleased to say that we will be offering the following options to parents this summer.

    1. Free delivery on all orders placed until the 1st July.
    2. After that, parents will either pay for delivery to home or use our “Click and Collect” option (starting date to be decided), they will not be able to order with “Delivery to School” as an option.
    3. We have put measuring videos on our website, which parents can use to purchase the correct size, using measurements they have taken at home (existing students should know sizing etc…)
    4. We currently offer a free returns system, where parents use our website to return items, parents must then make a new order for the correct size (i.e. this is not an exchange service, as garments must be safely stored (due to Covid-19) before going back into stock)
    5. We are also offering a “Click and collect” option in the future from our Benton shop only (date and times to be decided), but plan to stop this mid-August, so we don’t have the final rush of the summer with long queue’s (that we feel will be unsafe).

We will continue to follow the guidance and decide if/when our shops can re-open and what other changes can be safely made.

Our manufacturers have not missed any delivery dates as yet, so we will have a full stock available all summer and don’t foresee any shortfalls in supply for going back to School in September.

Please follow this link to the uniform page for our school:

    https://emblematic.co.uk/longbenton-store/wstpps/

During autumn term we will also sell some pre-owned uniform which will be freshly laundered at low cost from our school yard. More information will be available nearer the time.

  • Last few spaces available in Reception and Y1

Mon 15 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton

We have a very small number of spaces left for pupils in Reception and Y1 to return to school if they haven't returned already. They may come back to school from Monday 22nd June. This will be the last opportunity for your child to return before the summer holidays unless Government guidance changes. If you would like a place for your child please let us know by Wednesday 17th June. If there are more children on the list than spaces available, we will prioritise the children of key workers and vulnerable children first. We will let you know on Thursday 18th June if your child has a place to start next Monday. Children who have already got a place in school can continue to attend until 17th July when we break up for the summer holidays.

    Thank you.

  • New Y6 bubble

Mon 15 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton

We are able to open one more social bubble for Y6 pupils but this will be the last opportunity to come to school unless the Government guidance changes. This bubble will start on Monday 22nd June and they will be taught by Miss Edokpayi and Mrs McMeekin. We have 9 spaces left available. If more than 9 are on the list we will have to prioritise the children of key workers and vulnerable children first. Please let us know by Wednesday 17th June if you would like a place for your child. We will telephone all on the list on Thursday to let you know if you have been successful. Children who already have a place can continue to attend until 17th July when we break up for the summer holidays.

    Thank you

  • Public transport and face coverings in school

Mon 15 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton

If you use public transport to get to or from our school can I please remind you that it is compulsory to wear a face covering from today. If possible, we recommend that you walk, cycle or use a family car if you have one instead.

Children in school will not wear face coverings as they are in small social bubbles and are not mixing with others. Science has proved that face coverings don't prevent you from catching the virus but will stop you from spreading it to others if you have it. Children are advised to not wear face coverings, so they will not be worn in our school.

    Thank you

  • Well done

Fri 12 Jun 2020 Miss Bilton
