  • 9th July

Wed 26 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton
9th July is a very busy day for some of our pupils in school. The choir are singing at the Sage in Gateshead at the Angels of the North concert and the Y3/4 football teams are playing at Newcastle Academy as part of the NUFC Foundation 1892 Cup. As these events are both organised by external agencies we have no choice in the date and have not been able to help the clash. The members of the choir must attend rehearsals at The Sage all day ready for their exciting concert on the evening, therefore will not be able to play in the football team on this one occasion. We have also ordered the tops for the children to wear and some of you have booked tickets. They are still part of the team for future events. Please pop in to see me if you have any queries about this. Thank you for your understanding.
  • Save the date - London experience celebration

Fri 21 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton

If your child enjoyed our recent London trip and you would like to come to see all of the photographs from the experience, please save the date. It will be on Thursday 11th July at 3:45pm until around 4:30pm. We will create a slideshow of the photographs and you can see some of the other things they learned. This will take place in our school hall.

The photographs will also be shared as part of our special Y6 leavers assembly on Thursday 18th July starting at 9:15am.

  • Book fair and uniform sale

Wed 19 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton

Next week we have our book fair in school Monday to Thursday from 3:25pm - 4pm in the PPA room. This is located next to the Y6 classroom and can be accessed from the KS2 yard near to where KS1 parents wait for their children.

The book fair always has an amazing selection of books to choose from and there are some fantastic bargains.

On Monday and Tuesday next week at 3:25pm we will be selling pre-owned school blazers which have been freshly laundered. These will cost £5. We have a range of sizes available so please pop in for your child to try them.

  • Breakfast Club

Mon 10 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton

As you are aware, we have had a breakfast club at school for many years, organised through Kidds Are Us which is an external business and managed by Pauline Donald. The contract for this has expired and we wish to thank Pauline and her staff for their dedication over many years.

Breakfast Club is important to us as a school so I am delighted to tell you that from Tuesday 3rd September 2019 we have secured funding to provide free breakfast for our pupils through Greggs. They have raised enough money to be able to provide this free of charge to school and are taking part in their own sponsored walk for 10 miles to raise funding for additional equipment and resources for these sessions. Their 10 mile walk will end at our school during our summer fayre on Wednesday 10th July where we will be joined by the Greggs mascot. We will also have an exciting launch day in September with local press invited and a range of interesting activities available every morning. School staff will be on hand to supervise and run activities.

Further details of how to sign up your child for these free Greggs breakfast sessions from September will be sent home soon, but I wanted to reassure you that we have these arrangements in place and will be free of charge to all children at our school.

If you have any further questions about this, please pop in to speak to me about it.

  • London trip

Mon 10 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton

Our Y5 & Y6 London trip was extremely successful. The pupils all loved it and have learned lots of information that they will use to enhance their work this half term. Behaviour was excellent and the waiter in the restaurant said that they were the best group of pupils they had ever had, which is lovely to hear.

Photographs of this trip will be added to this site over the next few weeks and will all be shown as part of the Y6 leavers assembly on Thursday 18th June.

  • Cricket tournament

Wed 05 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton
Our Y5 & Y6 pupils are having an amazing time at the cricket tournament today at Backworth. We love being involved in sporting events as it keeps us fit and active while learning new skills. The teamwork we have seen today is outstanding too.

  • Jewellery and acrylic nails advice

Tue 04 Jun 2019 Miss Bilton

Can I please remind all parents and carers that no jewellery is allowed in school for safety reasons other than a wrist watch. Please ensure that if your child is having their ears pierced they need to be able to remove any studs for attending school. Acrylic nails must not be worn in school for safety reasons. Any pupils wearing acrylic nails will be asked to have them removed and will not be able to take part in any PE or sports activities while wearing them. This policy will be upheld by the Governing Body without exception. Thank you.
