Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As we are at the end of our school year I just want to express my thanks to you all for sending your amazing children to our school. It is a privilege to work with all of our lovely parents, carers and pupils at St Peter's as we strive to provide the best education possible for every child. Thank you for your continuing support through what has been an unsettling year for some. The Local Authority and SIAMS inspectors are confident that we now have secure systems in place to have a successful year next year and I am looking forward to working with you all again.
I hope that you have a lovely summer and will welcome the children back to school on Tuesday 4th September.
I am delighted to say that recently our school was inspected as a Church school and I have attached a copy of our report in the Church School section of our website. We have been graded as 'good' for every section and 'good' for overall effectiveness which is an amazing endorsement of the improvements that we are putting in place.
The purpose of SIAMS inspection is to evaluate the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the school as a Church school, and how well the distinctive Christian character and ethos of the school ensure the development and achievement of the whole child or young person.
Thank you for your ongoing support and as a school, we will continue to make the improvements necessary to provide the best education possible for every child in our care.
If you would like a paper copy of the latest report, please call at our school office to collect one.
We have 108 pupils who reached or exceeded our attendance target of 96% for the whole year. That is 55% of our pupils from Reception to Y6. Well done to those pupils.
You will receive your treats on Thursday this week.
I am delighted to say that we have 17 children across school who have had 100% attendance this academic year. This is a fantastic achievement therefore, those pupils with 100% attendance will be bringing a letter home today. The letter explains that we will be taking those children to Sambuccas for lunch on Thursday. If your child has 100% and has received a letter today, please complete the permission form and return it to school so that we can take them for their treat.
Children who have more than 96% attendance will also receive a treat in school on Thursday.
Well done!
I have had a few parents asking why the children will wear their uniform for the disco on Wednesday so I would like to explain the reasons for this.
It causes anxiety among some pupils when they are dressed in their normal clothes at school which can have a knock-on effect on their behaviour or cause distress. As I do not want any child to feel distressed, the decision was made to keep it simple and pupils would just continue to wear their uniform. Those pupils who cannot cope well when things are different will feel more at ease.
Pressure can also be put on parents to buy new clothes for their child, and as it is just before the holidays we did not want to put undue pressure on parents at an expensive time.
Also, as the disco is to be held during the school day, there is no need for them to get changed.
Last year there was not a disco at the end of term so the disco has been organised as a treat. If you would prefer your child to not be included in this treat then please let us know and we will arrange for them to be in a classroom with a member of staff instead. Thank you.
It is a very exciting week as each class gets some time to work with their new teacher. Unfortunately Mr Piper is unable to make it to our school this week so he spent time with the current Y3 class last week instead.
Please read the latest letters in the newsletters section to find out who your child's class teacher will be next year.
I am delighted to welcome five new staff to our team:
Mrs Elliott is joining us as Acting Deputy Headteacher and will teach Y6
Mr Piper will teach Y4
Mr Packer will teach Y2 in the first instance until we know if Mrs Gregan is able to return or not
Mrs Bennett will support in Y6 and some support for other groups of KS2 pupils
Mrs Laverick will support in Y2 each morning
I am confident that we have a very strong team next year and that we will continue to make improvements.

Well done to all of the pupils who took part and thank you to the Burnside staff and pupils for arranging this amazing event.
I apologise that we had to cancel our participation in the swimming gala yesterday. Unfortunately July 11th was the only date that Burnside Business and Enterprise College and our school could both accommodate for our Key Stage 2 sports day, which went very well.
We were still prepared to have both events happening at the same time but most of the swimming gala team dropped out on the morning of the gala as they wanted to take part in the sports day instead. We were left with only 5 pupils who were willing to swim and this was not enough to make a team. This left us with no alternative but to cancel our participation in the event.
Hopefully next year the dates will not clash and we can take part in the swimming gala again.
