Friday’s assembly was all about Eid. The children learned a lot and asked different questions.
Phil from CluedUpKids has been in on a number of occasions to support diversity discussions and workshops.
He recently came in to speak with children about LGBTQIA+ with Year 6, Year 4/5 and 3/4. Phil used ‘Opinionator’ with the children to anonymously gather their opinions and then have a meaningful discussion around LGBT.
Year 5 and 6 had an anti-knife crime speaker in on the 24th March, named Byron, who spoke about his experiences with knife crime and how this has changed his and his family’s lives. He now educates schools and has won many awards because of his experience. The children were informed and engaged with his important message.
We were really happy to welcome Kema to our school today.
Moving to Newcastle from Zambia at just 3 years old, Kema has always struggled with his identity and has often been the victim of racist abuse. Due to this experience, he wants to tackle diversity and inclusion in schools and help young people achieve their dreams and open their eyes to opportunity.
Year 4 have been participating in outdoor practical sessions putting their knowledge of the Green Cross Code to the test. The children were fantastic at remembering to look right, left then right again and continue to do so as they walked across the road. They were evenable to reason their answers as to why when asked too!
Our visitors then also educated other classes across school.
