Usually at this time of the year our Y6 pupils enjoy a leavers service at Newcastle Cathedral where they celebrate everything they have achieved and look ahead to the future. It is a great opportunity to meet with pupils from other schools and the Diocese felt that it would be a shame for our pupils to miss out completely on this special service due to the pandemic. They have created a service online for our Y6 pupils to enjoy.

For the remaining two weeks of the school year, please explore the websites below to ensure that both parents/carers and children are familiar with their secondary schools expectations and complete any work required by their transition teams. If they have any concerns what so ever regarding their transition, please feel free to contact me via the school office.
Please find below a link to transition activities for children attending St Thomas More Academy As part of the Transition experience we would like all the Year 6 pupils to have a virtual transition week. During this week we would like the Year 6 teachers, rather than setting their own home learning tasks, instead request that the pupils coming to STM complete transition tasks that will be available on the STM website. We hope to strike a balance between encouraging them to complete the activities without overloading or adding anxiety to an already challenging situation. We would like pupils to complete two activities a day, one from the 'Priority' group and one from the 'Choice' group. We would ask for pupils to ideally take a photograph of their work and email it, or email an electronic version of the work to STM's transition email address (transition@stmacademy.org.uk). The work will then be collated over the summer and shared with staff in the new term. Alternatively they would keep the paper copies of their work somewhere safe until they can bring them into school (hopefully in September). Alongside the activities there will be video introductions from each HoD that could be played either in school or at home. I do hope that this is something that you will feel able to support us and your pupil(s) with.
From tomorrow morning, learning packs will be available from the school office to collect any time during the day for children who will not be attending school. They will include: an exercise book, pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, pencil sharpener, protractor and mirror (for work with measuring and drawing angles and symmetry in math). If you are unable to get to the school, please contact the school office and we will try and arrange a drop off for your pack.
Hope everyone is well and staying safe!

The Wizards of Once, Knock Three Times Chapter 10 Two Alarming Incidents
Due to planning and preparations being put in place for children's safe return to school next week, there will unfortunately be a limited amount of work being put on our class page. I will still be placing extracts from The Hobbit on each day starting from tomorrow, as well as some information regarding transitions to secondary school to help the children in their progression to secondary education. If you have any questions relating to any of the above, please feel free to contact the school office and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
Hope everyone is safe and I look forward to seeing some of you next week!

The Wizards of Once - Twice Magic - Chapter 18 Daily Class Read
Tuesday 12th May - Math and guided reading - due to the potential return of children after half term, the new English module will be put on hold until more information is known
Hope everyone is safe and working hard from home! Thought it would be easier to bake something with less ingredients this week so here is a recipe for shortbread biscuits. Don't worry if they come out of the oven and are still a bit soft. They will harden as they cool! Hope you all enjoy!
I thought we would take a break from English, maths and reading to work on some baking skills! This video is my 'attempt' at a simple chocolate brownie recipe. I know the ingredients might be hard to come by so I will be looking to add some other recipes later with simpler ingredients! Hope you all enjoy and staying safe!!
I've just realised I didn't mention anything on how oo actually bake them! I had them in the oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes!
